Pre sent: Councilmen Absent: Councilmen Continued hearing "West Santa Ana Annex" Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, J. Ogden Markel, Dale H. Heinly ~ Royal E. Hubbard ii The Mayor stated this adjourned meeting had been called for the purpose of consider- ation with respect to the "West Santa Ama Annex". The Mayor asked the Clerk if she had received any additional protests amd She stated she had received additional protests and withdrawals and presented her written report to the Council showing that during this ten day period additional protests representing $137,850.00 were filed with the City, making a total of all protests filed $337,~20.00. ~lso prior to said 5:0~1 ?, M,: continued meeting the City received withdrawal protests repre- senting $20,730.00, which leaves protests of $~16,690.00 now filed protesting agains~ the election in said territory. The total assessed value of~ said territory is $1,969,2~0.00, which does not include any publicly owned~t or 16~ of the value of the territory prot~sting against the election. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the additional protests were received and filed. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the withdrawal protests Reso. No. 59-14 Calling Special Municipal Election - "West Santa Ana were received and filed. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-14 calling a Special Municipal Election to be held on the 10th day of March, 1959, to submit to the electors in that certain territory designated 'West Santa Ama Annex' the question of whether or not said territory should be annexed to the City of Santa ~na, California, declaring that protest had not been made by the owners of one-half of the value of said territory, changing the boundaries of said territory to delete therefrom that territory within Garden Grove Annexation No. 63, and resubmitting the boundaries as changed to the Orange County Boundary Comm~ission" was considered and passed by the following vote: Mark Walker, re~r~sentative WillowickGolf. Hubbard Mr. Mark Walker, representative of Willowick Golf Course requested that the Golf Course be eliminated from the "West Santa Ama Annex" as under the Annexation Laws the same is less than 5% of the total area. The Council declined to take action Continued hearing "Sullivan and Edinger to remove said area. The Mayor asked the Clerk if any protests had been received with respect to the "Sullivan and Edinger Annex", and she stated none had been received and presented her written report to that effect. /94 Reso. No. 59-15 The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Calling Special Municipal Election "Sullivan and Edinger A~lnex" Pre sentation of 49th Star Flag Appointment Clerk of the Council Presentation of gold key to Erma Hunter APPROVED: ~ / Mayor of the City of CouncJlm~n Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-15 calling a Special Municipal Election to be held on the 10th day of March, 1959, to submit to the electors in that certain territory~designated 'Sullivan and Edinger Annex' the question of whether or not said territory should be -~exed to the City of Santa Ana" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Sten~ey C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, J. Ogden Markel, Dale H. Heinly Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard Mr. George Keating, representative of Wal~r's Theatre presented the first 49th Star~ Flag to the City Council. The Mayor, on behalf of the Council, accepted the Flag with thanks. On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Markel and carried, Marion Suttner, Assistant Clerk of the Council, was appointed Clerk of the Council, effective January 10, 1959, and Mayor Dale H. Heinly administered the oath of office to Miss ~uttner. The Mayor presented a gold key to the City of Santa Aha to Erma Hunter, retiring Clerk of the Council as a memento of the services she has rendered the City during her thirty-five years of service.
