HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-087BKS: nr 6-4-79 RESOLUTION NO. 79-87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 200 AS AMENDED MAY 7, 1979 WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana relies on importation of water from the State Water Project, and WHEREAS, construction of the Peripheral Canal in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is urgently needed in order to help relieve the State Project of water deficiencies and protect the Delta environment; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 200, as amended on May 7, 1979, would require prompt construction by the State of the Peripheral Canal and related Delta facilities, as well as protection for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta; and WHEREAS, SB 200 represents a balanced consensus reached after lengthy negotiations by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the State of California Department of Water Resources, and others. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: 1. That the City Council hereby proclaims its support for Senate Bill 200. 2. That the Clerk of the Council is directed to distribute copies of this Resolution to Senators Vuich, Johnson and Sieroty, Assemblymen Chappie, Duffy, Tehman and Thurman, and to all members of the State Legislature representing constitutents in Orange County.
