RESOLUTION NO. 79-168
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE
TO ACCEPT A GRANT FOR SANTA ANA'S PRISONER
AND OFFICER SAFETY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to undertake a
certain project designated "Prisoner and Officer Safety" to
be funded in part from funds made available through the
Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, PL 90-
351, as amended, (hereafter referred to as the Crime Control
Act) administered by the Law Enforcement Assistance Admin-
istration (hereafter referred to as LEAA); and
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore, on May 7, 1979,
authorized submission of a grant application for such funds,
which has since been approved by LEAA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. That the action of the Chief of Police in executing
on behalf of the City of Santa Ana, and submitting to LEAA
that certain "Application for Federal Assistance with
Attached OCJP Form 502 revised 7-1-76," identified as the
Prisoner and Officer Safety Grant, a copy of which is on
file with the Clerk of the Council, is hereby ratified and
approved and the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to
execute and accept any grant award that may result therefrom.
2. That the City of Santa Ana agrees to provide all
matching funds required for said project (including any
extension or amendment thereof) under the Crime Control Act
and the rules and regulations of the Law Enforcement
Assistance Administration and that cash will be appropriated
as required thereby.
3. That grant funds received hereunder shall not be
used to supplant law endorcement expenditures controlled by
this body.
