HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-199KLG:ar 10/29/79 RESOLUTION NO. 79- 199 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DESIGNATING UNITED WAY OF ORANGE COUNTY NORTH/SOUTH AS THE SINGLE AGENCY TO CONDUCT THE 1979-80 CHARITABLE FUND DRIVE AMONG THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the City Council adopted its Resolution No. 79-172 on October 1, 1979, in which it established cri- teria to determine the selection of a single combined fund drive among employees of the City of Santa Ana; and and WHEREAS, United Way of Orange County North/South has conducted charitable solicitation drives among employees of the City of Santa Ana for the past eight years, and has submitted a letter of application to the city manager, which includes an agreement to abide by applicable provisions of Section 663, Title II, California Administrative Code, en- titled "Payroll Deductions for Charitable Contributions," and has agreed to file a letter of application with the Clerk of the Council by September 30 of each year hereafter, requesting renewal of said application; and WHEREAS, United Way of Orange County North/South has provided the following responses to the criteria estab- lished by said Resolution No. 79-172: A. "United Way currently provides funding to 22 agencies located within the City of Santa Ana; additionally, funding is also provided to 19 other other human services not located in Santa Ana but whose service area includes the City of Santa Ana." B. "United Way raised $627,895 from firms located in the City of Santa Ana for a total of $6.5 million in Orange County." C. "Of the total dollars collected by United Way, 87.4% was disbursed to agencies. Operational costs break down in the following categories: Fund Raising 5.1% Community Planning/ Agency Relations 2.1% Communication Costs 1.8% Management Costs 3.6% Total Costs 12.6%" D. "United Way of Orange County North/South here- by agrees to all conditions set forth in Criteria D." RESOLUTION NO. 79-199 PAGE TWO E. "The CPA Firm of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells conducted the United Way financial audit using AICPA Standards." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, AS FOLLOWS: Based upon said responses to the criteria estab- lished in Resolution No. 79-172 of this Council, United Way of Orange County North/South is determined to be the agency which conducts the principal combined fund drive in the City of Santa Ana, and this Council hereby approves and provides that payroll deductions from the salaries or wages of City of Santa Ana employees are available for charitable contri- butions to said agency.
