No. 2 on said bid showed a figure of ,1,200.00 and after hearing, it was
determined and declared by the City Council to be a clerical error on the
part of said bidder; that to avoid allowing the withdrawal of said bid and
bid bond, the Gallegos Corporation be permitted to correct L~e clerical
~rror to change albernate No. 2 from *1,200.00 to ,12,000.00; the~ when the
correction is made Alternate No. 2 be accepted; all other 0ids be rejected
and bonds returned; prqoer officials authorized to execute the necessary
agreement upon the condition that the Gal&egos Corporation enter into a
satisfactory agreement with the City to indemnify and hold harmless the
City, its Officers and Councilmen, from any judgment costs from any suits

lamps for the iperiod July l, 1959, to June 30, 1960, in accordance with Specifi-
cation No. 452-6, as follows:

Excise Tax is included in the list price. This tax of 4.7% will oe allowed

The Mayor declared the motion tabled. It was moved by ~ounciLmau Hall, seconded
by Hubbard and carried that the bids for the two four-door sedans be considered
at this time. It was moved by Councilman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried
that the bids ce returned to the Administrative otaff for recammendation as to
the lowest and best bid, taking into consideration minimum specifications as
well as others.
On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the Clerk was
authorized to open the one old ~or the publication of legal notices and other
matters required by law to be published for the fiscal year begir~ing July 1,
1959, and ending June 30, 1960, as follows:

July 6, 1959.
On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, Tentative T~'act
Map 3423 filed by Douglas Edwards creating 259 residential lots located generally
between Fairview and Sullivan Streets and McFadden and Borchard Streets, was
approved, subject to conditions. A. n. McMains, representing the applicant~
stated there were no objections.to the conditions.

ouncllman Hu0bard disqualified himself on the following matter. Con~munication
was read from the Planning ~mmlsslon recommending approval of Variance Applica-
tion No. ll20 filed by Jack and Ruth '~atsuda to estaolish and operate a trailer
park and court on property situated at 11232 Sugar Street, in R-1 District; to use
existing ouildings, consisting of a house az~d garage and build the balance of the
area with facilities necessary to accommodate a complete and modern trailer park,

In compliance with verbal request of A. H. Famularo, action was continued to

Communication was read from the Commission recommending approval of Variance
Applicati~ No. 1122 filed by Ma~garet L. Hall to erect a building on property
situated at the southwest corner of McFadden Street and Standard Avenue, in
District, to be used for the ope~'aoion of a market and six small shops; to pro-
vide services or products needed in local area;adequate parkin~ to be provided,

On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded oy Hall and carried, the communi-
cation from the Planning Commission recommending approval of proposed annex-
ation of property consisting of approximately 35 acres located on the south
side of Edinger Street, approximately 331.86 feet west of Bristol Street,
in part, extending to one lot depth west of Douglas Street on the west,
and extending south approximasely 1292.78 feet, designated "~dinger and
Poplar Oouth Annex" was received and filed.

The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on
motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the following
Hesolation entitled:
"Resolution No. 59-145 initiating proceediugs for the
annexation of territory to the City of Santa ana, des-
ignating an appropriate name of '~dinger and Poplar
South annex~' and eying notice of time and place of
hearing protests thereto"

The ~ayor stated he had met with representatives of the Down-Town Business
~en's Association, the First Street Improvement ~ssociation, the ~ity
Manager, and the ketail Division of the Chamoer of Commerce, and it was the
consensus of opinion that a survey should be made within O0 days in regard
to traffic and business conditions on one-way streets; each group making
an independent report, and the records of t~e zt~ would be made available
to them for that purpose. It was moved by Councilman Hall, seconded Oy
Brewer and carried that the oral report be accepted.
It was moved by Coancilman Gould, seconded by Brewer and carried that new
sections be added to the Santa Ana ~unicipal ~ode regulating pawn brokers,
that the Council declare its intention to make such addition to said Code
and the matter be continued to July 6, 1959, for final study of an Ordinance;
that between now and July 6, 1959, the City ~anager be instructed to notify
the departments not to issue any pawn broker's license pending the adoption
of this Ordinance.
On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the Mayor was
authorized to execute amendment of agreement with the Orate Ooard of
Equalization modifying the current agreement for accelerated transmittal
of local sales tax collections.
A petition was read signed by approximately ~ persons requesting the City
Council to do all things necessary to provide sanitary sewer main and laterals
within the public right-of-way to serve all the numbered lots in Tract 1298
on property located west of Harbor Ooulevard between Sugar Otreet a~d Smeltzer

recommendation.
Communication was read from Temple ~eth Sholom ~isterhood requesting permission
to reserve Alona Park on June lkth from ll:O0 a.N. to 5:00 P.~., for a Sunday
