Invocation was given by Reverend Gerald Bash of the First Christian Church. It was moved by Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, that the Minutes of June 1, 1959, in Record Book 20, Page 192, with reference to Variance Application No. 1122 filed by Margaret L. Hall be corrected to read as follows: "It was moved by Councilman Hall and seconded by Hubbard, that the Variance be granted." On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the Minutes of June 1, 1959, as corrected, were approved. Bid acceptance Widening N. The Mayor stated that the matter of the bids for the construction of the Police Facility Building ce taken off calendar, and the Attorne~ instructed to furnish the City Council with copies of the agreement to be executed by the Gallegos Corporation. On motion of Councilmm~ Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the recommen- dation of the Planning Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 1128 filed by Russell D. Willmams granted to construct one two-family dwelling on rear part of each of two lots on property situated at 912-914 No~th ming Street, in R-1 District, subject to conditions. This being the date set for hearing on the adoption of amendment of Master Plan of Otreets and Highways; no protests were received, and the hearing was de~lared closed. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion o~ Councilman Gould, seconded hy Brewer ~d carried, the following Hesolution entitled: "Resolutiou No. 59-152 amending the Master Plan of Streets and Highways to include areas coming into the City ~y recent annexations" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. A petition wa~ read signed by approximately 37 persons requestin~ denial of the Variance application. Walter Adrian, 1621 Linwood Avenue, representing the protestants, indicated the petition stated their case. Communication was read from the Planning Co~mission reco~r~nding approval of Variance Applicaticn No. ll~2 filed by Jezowski and Markel to estaolish a cement contracti~ ousine ss to be operated with a m~ximum of four employees, including owners, on premises; and to place a five-foot by six-foot sig~ in front of the business; off-street parking space to be provided for six cars on property situated approximately 240 feet north of intersection of ~dinger Street and the proposed extension of Fairview Street, subject to conditions of the Planning Co,~nission and the Department of Public Works. Attorney John Cochrau, representing the applicants, addressed the Council with reference to the conditmons as imposed, and after discussion, the matter was ccatinued to June 29, 1959. On motion of ~ouncilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the reccmm- endatien of the Planning Commission was approved and Variance Application No. 12J3 filed by Milo W. and Goldia M. Richards granted to demolish existing garage and construct a single-family dwelling on property situated at 13081 Pomona Street, in R-1 District. On motion of bounciLman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recon~men- datien of the Planning Comm~tssion was approved and Variance Application No. 1127 filed by Richard A. Huffa, d Howard P. Rubin was affirmed as to the present use of the building situated at 801 Spurgemu Street which is occupied by the LOS ANGELES TIMES Editorial, Classified and Circulation staff; International Business Machines Sales Organization and three insurance companies, in R-3 C ; ~arole M. Famularo Reso. No. 59-155 District but the request to erect a sign, eight feet wide and eight feet high, with the lettering "T]~ES" in neon, atop the structure, was denied. . Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending approval of Variance Application No. ll21 filed by Carole M. Fmnularo to establish and operate a trailer park on property situated at 2740 ~est ~irst Street, in ~-l District, subject to conditions. ~rthur Famularo, 18142 blue ~idge Drive, Santa Ana, objected to installing a chain link fence along a windbreak of Bluegum trees. Councilman Gould withdrew his motion. It was moved by Councilman Gould and seconded by Hubbard that the Variance be granted, subject to all conditions.
