A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER TO SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR $1,924,348 TO PARTIALLY FUND CONSTRUCTION OF THE SANTA
ANA INTERCITY COMMUTER STATION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has identified
improvements to the Santa Ana Amtrak passenger facility as a top transportation
priority; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved a project to construct
an Intercity Commuter Station replacing the Amtrak facility and consolidating
all modes of intercity passenger service now operating in Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, the current estimated cost of the Santa Ana Intercity
Commuter Station is $4,415,100 of which $2,024,312 has been pledged by the
City and $446,440 granted by the California Transportation Commission leaving
an unfunded balance of $1,924,348; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has invited
applications for intermodal interface projects such as the Santa Ana Intercity
Commuter Station for funding under the provisions of Senate Bill 620.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA RESOLVES
that the City Transportation Engineer is authorized and directed to submit a
grant application to the California Department of Transportation for $1,924,348
for partial funding of the Santa Ana Intercity Commuter Station Project.
