HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-163DMF/fm 9/18/80 RESOLUTION NO. 80-163 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING A POLICY OF APPOINT- MENT OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE COUNTY SANITA- TION DISTRICTS WHEREAS, California Health and Safety Code ("H&S Code") Section 4700 et seq. provides for the formation of county sanitation di~-~ricts; and WHEREAS, H&S Code Section 4730 provides that the "presiding officer of the governing body of each city, the whole or part of which is included in the sanitation district is a member of the board "and that "the governing body of each city with a population of under 2,500,000 as found by the latest census, shall select one of its members, other than the presiding officer, as an alternate director to act as a member of the district board in place of the presiding officer" during the representative's absence, inability or refusal to act; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is part of Orange County Sanitation Districts 1, 2, 3 and 7; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana desires to appoint the Mayor as the representative to the board of directors of Sanitation Districts 1, 2, 3 and 7; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to appoint the Vice-Mayor as the alternative representative to the board of directors of Sanitation Districts 1, 2, 3 and 7; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to implement this policy of appointment of representative and alternate representative to said Sanitation Districts at the first meeting of the City Council following the regular municipal election in April, 1981. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: 1. The Mayor is hereby appointed as the representative of the City of Santa Ana to the board of directors of Sanitation Districts 1, 2, 3 and 7. 2, The Vice-Mayor is hereby appointed as the alternate representative of the City of Santa Ana to the board of directors of Sanitation Districts 1, 2, 3 and 7. 3. The foregoing appointments shall be effective RESOLUTION NO. 80-163 Page Two from and after the first meeting of the City Council follow- ing the regular municipal election in April, 1981.
