RESOLUTION NO. 80- 170
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING
A DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN WITH THE
INTERNATIONAL CITY MANAGEMENT
ASSOCIATION RETIREMENT CORPORATION
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has in its employ a
City Manager; and
WHEREAS, said employee is and will be rendering
valuable services to the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has considered the
establishment of a Deferred Compensation Plan by Resolution
No. 80-89 for said employee made available to the City and
to said employee by the International City Management
Association Retirement Corporation; and
WHEREAS, said employee is unable to acquire
retirement security under other existing and available
retirement plans due to the contingencies of employment
mobility; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana receives benefits
under said plans by being able to assure reasonable
retirement security to said employee, by being more able to
attract competent personnel to its service, and by
increasing its flexibility in personnel management through
elimination of the need for continued employment for the
sole purpose of allowing an employee to qualify for
retirement benefits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Santa Ana does hereby
establish said Deferred Compensation Plan for said employee
and hereby authorized the Mayor to execute the Deferred
Compensation Plan with the International City Management
Association Retirement Corporation, a copy of which is
attached hereto as "Appendix 1."
2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute
a Joinder Agreement with said employee and other eligible
officials and officers as may hereinafter be designated by
the City Council, which are necessary for said persons to
participate in the Plan, the form of which Joinder Agreement
is attached hereto as "Appendix 2."
ADOPTED this 6th day of October , 1980,
