RESOLUTION NO. 80-189
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT
FOR BIDS FOR REPAIR OF THE FIFTH STREET
BRIDGE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ACCEPT THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER THEREFOR
presently

WHEREAS, the United States Corps of
under construction of their project
River Channel bottom; and
Engineers is
to restore the
WHEREAS, said construction project in the area of
the Fifth Street Bridge is scheduled for completion on or
about November 15, 1980; and
WHEREAS, in order to make the Fifth Street Bridge
structurally safe for traffic on or before November 15,
1980, it will be necessary to seek bids for construction
pursuant to Charter S 421, and to begin construction on or
before November 1, 1980; and
WHEREAS, failure to begin construction on the
Fifth Street Bridge as hereinabove stated may delay opening
of said Bridge until the Spring of 1981; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
will not convene until November 3, 1980, and desires to
provide for acceptance of the lowest and best bid for said
construction project by the City Manager.
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:

That the plans and specifications for repair

2. That the Purchasing Agent is authorized to
advertise for bids for Project 7137.
3. That the City Manager is authorized to accept,
on behalf of the City Council, the lowest and best bidder
pursuant to Charter Section 421 for construction of Project
7137, to begin work on or before November 1, 1980.
4. That the City Manager shall report to the City
Council for ratification of his action on November 3, 1980.
