A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTAANA
URGING THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION TO ACTIVELY
PROMOTE FUNDING FOR THE BROADWAY OVERCROSSING OF THE SANTA ANA
FREEWAY AS PART OF THE 1981 STATE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Santa Ana has identified the
Broadway Overcrossing as~one of the highest priority transportation projects
for the City; and
WHEREAS, this project is currently needed for congestion relief
and system continuity in the vicinity of the Santa Aha Freeway; and
WHEREAS, traffic demand for this immediate area is projected to
double in the near future from planned local developments and County wide
growth; and
WHEREAS, considerable investment has been made toward completion
of this project by the City of Santa Ana and the California Department of
Transportation, with the support of the Orange County Transportation
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the California Transportation Commission!s Fund Estimate
for the 1981 State Transportation Improvement Program will be inadequate to
meet the needs of previously committed projects; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission has adopted
policies to prioritize projects for consideration in the 1981 Program based
on funding availability.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ARA urges
the Orange County Transportation Commission to actively supportand promote
funding for construction of the Broadway Overcrossing of the Santa Ana Freeway
in the 1981 State Transportation Improvement Program.
