HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-086RESOLUTION NO. 81-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANAAMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 58-281 TO DESIGNATE THE CLASS OF ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF A TERMINAL CLASS AND TO ADD AN ASSIGNMENT PAY DIFFERENTIAL FOR BATTALION CHIEF POSITIONS ASSIGNED AS FIRE DIVISION CHIEF WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 58-281, revising and re-establishing the Basic Compensation Plan for all officers and employees of the City of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Aha requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval of the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has from time to time amended said Resolution; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to provide for the downward reallocation of the Assistant Fire Chief position to the Battalion Chief class by designating said Assist- ant Fire Chief class as a terminal class, so that, after the anticipated disability retirement of the present incumbent (currently on long-term disability leave), said class will be automatically deleted from the classification and pay plan; and WHEREAS, it is also now desired to provide a pay differential for three Battalion Chief positions assigned additional management-level duties and responsibilities as Fire Division Chief in accordance with the reorganized department command structure authorized in the current annual budget for the department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana: 1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281, as amended, is hereby further amended by: a. Designating the class title of Assistant Fire Chief as "terminal" by adding the parenthetical identifier ("T)" next to the class title. b. Adding the following pay differential designation to the list of such designations footnoted at the end of Section 3: ,,(j),, An incumbent in the class of Battalion Chief who is assigned by the Fire Chief to serve as Fire Division Chief of the Fire Safety, Prevention and Suppression, or Technical Services Division, shall be paid an addi- tional twenty (20) salary rate ranges (10%) above his then current monthly salary rate while so assigned."
