HomeMy WebLinkAbout81-206RESOLUTION N0.81-206 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION TO FUND CONSTRUCTION OF GP~ADE SEPARATIONS ATSEVENTEENTH STREET, AND THE SANTA FE RAILROAD TRACKS WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has identified improvements to the Santa Ana Amtrak passenger facility as a top transport- ation priority; and WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Intercity Commuter Station project to bring about these improved passenger facilities requires acquisition of Santa Fe Railroad property and recommends grade separations on Seventeenth Street; and WHEREAS, theAtchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company has in- dicated a strong desire to have grade separations constructed as part of the Intercity Commuter Station project; and WHEREAS, the California Public Utilities Commission annually adopts a Grade Crossing Improvement Priority List for projects such as this; and WHEREAS, the California Public Utilities Commission provides grant funds to construct crossing improvements from this Priority List. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA RESOLVES that the Director of Transportation is authorized and directed to submit a grant application to the California Public Utilities Commission for grant funding of grade separation projects at Seventeenth Street, and the Santa Fe Railroad tracks.
