NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana supports
the national policy position of the National League of
Cities endorsing the efforts by the Reagan Administration
and the Congress to implement a fair and efficient method of
immigration control to replace the present unfair and
inefficient one.
2. The City Manager of the City of Santa Ana and his
staff are hereby directed to continue their efforts to
support rational and humane reform of federal immigration
law and policies for the benefit of all the residents of the
City of Santa Ana.
3. The United States Department of Justice and its
Immigration and Naturalization Service are hereby urged to
refrain from aggressive use of the 'area control'
enforcement method until new immigration laws and policies
take effect.
