A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 3763
WHICH ADDRESSES THE OLD COUNTY COURTHOUSE
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is dedicated to preserving
the symbols of its heritage; and
WHEREAS, the Old County Courthouse is the most
outstanding example present in the City of Santa Ana of that
social and architectural history of our community; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 3763 as presently constituted
does not provide guarantees that the structure, when under
the ownership of the State of California, shall be restored
to preserve its architectural integrity, and to ensure that
the public may utilize the facility as a museum for its
heritage;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
Santa Ana City Council does hereby go on record as opposed
to Assembly Bill 3763 because it fails, from the body of the
Legislation, to include these protections to ensure that in
this transfer of ownership the Old County Courthouse will be
preserved as an historical example to our community today,
and to generations to come, of the rich history and tradition
of our City.
