HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-093EJC:ar 4/5/82 RESOLUTION NO. 82-92 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ORDERING CLOSURE OF SECOND STREET BETWEEN BROADWAY AND SYCAMORE STREET TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC WHEREAS, Section 21101 (a) of the California Vehicle Code grants authority to local agencies to close any highway when in the opinion of the legislative body of that agency it is no longer needed for vehicular traffic; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 77-12, the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Santa Ana ("Redevelop- ment Agency") authorized award of a contract for archi- tectural and engineering services for the proposed Second Street Mall on Second Street between Broadway and Sycamore Street, Santa Ana, in the amount of Twenty-nine Thousand Four Hundred Fifty Dollars ($29,450.00); and WHEREAS, 'on March 19, 1979, the Redevelopment Agency awarded a construction contract to construct public improvements on the Second Street Mall in the amount of Three Hundred Thirty-six Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy-six Dollars Eighty Cents ($336,876.80); and WHEREAS, the necessary public improvements on the Second Street Mall were completed on January 21, 1980; and WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency has from time to time entered rehabilitation agreements with owners of property fronting the Second Street Mall to rehabilitate existing buildings; and WHEREAS, the Director of Transportation of the City of Santa Ana has determined that Second Street between Broadway and Sycamore Street is no longer needed for ve- hicular traffic; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana desires to close Second Street between Broadway and Sycamore Street to vehicular traffic, other than emergency and util- ity vehicles, to preserve the public and private improvements designed for pedestrian use. Resolution No. 82- 93 Page Two NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds and determines that Second Street between Broadway and Sycamore Street, City of Santa Ana, is no longer needed for vehicular traffic, and resolves that Second Street between Broadway and Sycamore Street shall be closed to vehicular traffic, other than emergency vehicles and public utility vehicles.
