HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-004 - Redemption and Disposal of Impound AnimalsRESOLUTION NO. 2003-004 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ADOPTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE FEE SCHEDULE RELATING TO THE REDEMPTION AND DISPOSAL OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS pc: 12/17/02 rvsd. 12/30/02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: The City of Santa Ana desires to enter into an agreement with the County of Orange ("County") for animal care shelter services effective February 1, 2003. Pursuant to such an agreement, it is necessary for the City to adopt a fee schedule relating to the redemption and disposal of impounded animals which is identical with the County fee schedule, including any amendments thereto. The City Council incorporates herein, as though fully set forth, the Request For Council Action accompanying this resolution. SECTION 2. The City Council hereby establishes the following fees relating to Animal Shelter Services. Fees and charges for redemption and adoption of impounded animals shall be identical to those currently established by the County, which are attached to this resolution as Exhibit 1 and incorporated herein by this reference as those fully set forth, and said fees and charges are hereby adopted and shall be implemented and in effect as of the date that the County commences provision of animal care shelter services for the City. Any existing City fees and charges inconsistent with those set forth in Exhibit 1 hereto are hereby repealed and are of no further force and effect as of the date that the County commences provision of animal care shelter services for the City. Any revision, modification, increase, or decrease in the County's fees and charges adopted by the City as set forth in this resolution shall also be deemed as amending and superceding this resolution, unless a new Resolution No. 2003~004 Page 1 of 8 resolution is adopted by the City Council specifically amending or rescinding the redemption and adoption County fee schedule. SECTION 3. That without further action of the City Council the fees and charges listed in Exhibit 1 hereto shall be incorporated into the City's Miscellaneous Fee Schedule. Code 2606.4). The reduced fee for a neutered animal will be allowed only upon presentation of a certificate of spaying castration, or of theammal' 's mabflxtv' ' ' , to reproduce, slgned' by a licensed veterinarian. Any person who fails to purchase or renew a license within fifteen (15) days after it has become due or expired shall be deemed delinquent and may be requir'ed to pay a late fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) in addition to the prescribed fee. Once purchased, there will be no refund of license fees unless it is demonstrated that, at the time the license became effective, the animal was not subject to licensing. Orange County residents who are 65 years of age or older may obtain one license at 50% of the regular fee for altered dogs.
