RESOLUTION NO. 84- 53
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA REGARDING NON-WORK RELATED EMPLOYEE
ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
acknowledges that from time to time City employees engage in
non-work related activities; which activities may be athletic,
recreational or social in nature;
NOW, THEREFORE BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA as follows:
1. The City of Santa Ana is only responsible for
any injury or accident that arises out of or occurs during an
athletic event at which the attendance or participation is ex-
pressly required by the employee's supervisor or by his/her
written job description. All other recreational activities are
not sanctioned by the City of Santa Ana and attendance or par-
ticipation at any of these events by any employee is strictly
voluntary and performed at the employee's own risk.
2. The City of Santa Ana is not liable for the
payment of workers' compensation benefits for any injury which
arises out of an employee's voluntary participation in any off-
duty recreational, social, or athletic activity which is not a
part of the employee's work-related duties.
