HomeMy WebLinkAbout84-074EJC: ar 6/14/84 RESOLUTION NO. 84~4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING FEES FOR EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION RENDERED TO PERSONS BY PARAMEDICS OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 81-115 WHEREAS, the City Council created a Santa Ana Ambulance Study Committee to study the provision of para- medic ambulance services in the City of Santa Ana and elsewhere; and WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Ambulance study Committee submitted its report to the City Council on May 14, 1984; and WHEREAS, among several recommendations, said Com- mittee recommended that the estimated full cost of the city's present paramedic ambulance services be incorporated into the city's fee structure as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, the "full cost" of providing such ser- vices includes, but is not limited to, direct costs, indi- rect costs, allocated department overhead, fleet mainten- ance, billing costs, employee benefits, reasonable losses from uncollectible accounts and equipment depreciation; and WHEREAS, the present fee for such services does not support the provision of such services which results in over One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) annually in tax subsidy by the residents of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, in accordance with said recommendation, the City Council desires to establish a fee for said ser- vices which is designed to more closely recover the full cost for said services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: 1. That each person who receives emergency medi- cal transportation from any city paramedic unit shall be charged a fee in the amount of Three Hundred Fifty Dollars ($350.00) plus any incidental charges dictated by the exist- inG third party payor system such as MedicAid/MediCare/MediCal. That each person who receives non-emergency medical transportation from any city paramedic unit shall charged a fee in the amount of One Hundred Twenty Dollars ($120.00) plus any incidental charges dictated by the existing third party payor systems such as MedicAid/ MediCare/MediCal. 3. That Resolution No. 81-115 of this Council, adopted on July 20, 1981, is repealed. be ADOPTED this 25th day of June , 1984.
