REL:adg 7/23/84 8/7/84 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY TO CONSOLIDATE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WITH THE STATE- WIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1984 WHEREAS, there will be a general municipal election in the City of Santa Ana on November 6, 1984 for the purpose of filling the offices of councilmembers from Wards 1, 3, 5 and 7 and for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City certain proposed amendments to the City Charter; and WHEREAS, there will be a statewide general election on November 6, 1984; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that said general election of the City of Santa Ana be consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on the same date and that within the City of Santa Ana the precincts, polling places and elec- tion officers be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the general municipal election, in all respects as if there was only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to consent to and order the consolidation with the statewide general election of November 6, 1984, of a general municipal election of the City of Santa Ana to be held upon the same date for the purpose of filling the offices of councilmembers from Wards 1, 3, 5 and 7 of the City of Santa Ana and for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Santa Ana certain propositions to appear on the ballot as follows: RESOLUTION NO. 84-93 PAGE TWO COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR. Shall Section 402 of the Charter be amended to provide that the city council may establish a salary for the mayor by ordinance of the City? Yes No 3. The City of Santa Ana recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County of Orange by reason of this con- solidation, and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs. 4. The Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange and a certified copy of this resolution with the Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange.
