A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
AM~DING RESOLUTION 86-59 TO DELETE, ADD AND CHANGE
SEVERAL CLASS TITLES CONTAINED IN THE BASIC CLASSIFICATION
kND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, on July 7, 1986, the City Council passed and adopted
Resolution No. 86-59, re-establishing the Basic Classification and
Compensation Plan for classes of employment designated as unrepresented
executive and middle-management; and
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City
of Santa Aha requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a
position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and
regulations and the approval of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, with the adoption of the annual budget for Fiscal Year
1986-87, the City Council authorized certain organizational and staffing
changes which affect several class titles in the basic classification and
compensation plan for unrepresented management classes of employment
contained in Resolution No. 86-59; and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to amend said Resolution to delete,
add and change several class titles affected by said organizational and
staffing changes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA:
1. That Section 3A of Resolution No. 86-59 is hereby amended by:
a. Deleting the class title of Executive Director of
Intergovernmental Relations (EM); and
b. Designating as "Terminal" the class title of Executive
Director of Communications and Marketing (EM) by adding the parenthetical
identifier "(T)" next to follo~ing the class title so that the class will
be automatically deleted from the management pay plan upon being vacated
by its current incumbent; and
c. Changing the following existing class titles as
indicated at no change in currently assigned salary levels:

d. Adding, in proper alphabetical sequence, the new class
title of Executive Assistant to the City Manager; designating said class
as unrepresented executive management by adding the parenthetical
identifier (EM) next to following the class title; and assigning said new
class to Salary Rate Range No. M-30 with minimum to maximum normal hiring
rates of $4535 to $5389 per month.
That Section 3B of Resolution No. 86-59 is hereby amended by:
a. Deleting the middle-management class titles of
Assistant Downtown Development Commission Manager (MM) and Assistant Fire
Chief (MM).
b. Designating as "Terminal" the following class titles by
adding the parenthetical identifier "(T)" next to following said class
titles:
Community Preservation Officer (MM) (T)
Development Manager (MM) (T)
Executive Assistant I (MM) (T)
c. Changing the following existing class titles as
indicated at no change in currently assigned salary levels:

unrepresented middle management by adding the parenthetical identifier
(MM) next to following the class title; and assigning said new Class to
Salary Rate Range No. M-26, with minimum to maximum normal hiring rates
of $4108 to $4883 per month.

3. That Section 3 of Resolution 86-59 is hereby further amended by
adding the following footnote at the end of said Section 3:
"(T) designates a "terminal class. A position classifi-
cation that has been designated as "terminal" by the City
Council by amendment to this Resolution will be deleted
from this classification and compensation plan when
vacated by its last remaining incumbent. No new appoint-
ments may be made to a class that has been so designated."
