HomeMy WebLinkAbout87-002003 RES'OLUTION 87 - 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE APPLI- CATION FOR FUNDS THROUGH THE ORANGE COUNTY UNIFIED TRANSPORTATION TRUST STATE HIGHWAY AND FREEWAY PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Santa Aha is served by a network of state freeways including the Santa Aha Freeway (I-5), the Garden Grove Freeway (R~22), and the Costa Mesa Freeway (R-5§); and. WHEREAS, the combination of this freeway network and the City's arterial system provide regional-accessibility to the Fed- eral, State, and County offices, and the commercial, recreational and employment centers located within the City's boundaries; and, WHEREAS, the interface between the state freeways and the City's arterial system is of utmost importance in providing an operationally efficient regional traffic circulation program; and, WHEREAS, the Governor has signed legislation creating the Orange County Unified Transportation Trust Fund to be admin- istered by the Orange County Transportation Commission for the purpose of making improvements to state highways and freeways; and, WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission is now accepting appli~ations for matching funds to be allocated through the Orange County Unified Transportation Trust State Highway and Freeway program for the purpose of operational and safety improvements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA; That the Executive Director of the Public Works Agency is authorized to submit an appli~atton for matching funds allo- cated through the Orange County Unified Transportation Trust State Highway and Freeway program for the purpose of Widening the Southbound Off-Ramp of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway at Dyer Road; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the total estimated cost of the subject project is $316;000 with [he City's matching share ($158,000) to be derived from Transportation Area Fees and Gas Tax revenues; and, 0O5 RESOLUTION NO. PAGE 2 87-2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Santa Ana's General Plan Circulation Element is mutually satisfactory and ~n conformance with the County's Master Plan of Arterial Highways.
