A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO SUPPORT
THE "LOS ANGELES-SAN DIEGO (LOSSAN)
STATE RAIL CORRIDOR STUDY: DRAFT
FINAL REPORT"
of the
Study:
KSqEREAS, the City Council received the Summary Report
"Los Angeles-San Diego (LOSSAN) State Rail Corridor
Draft Final Report"; and
WHEREAS, the Report has identified improvements in
the rail corridor that will reduce intercity AMTRAK rail
running time and facilitate the operation of additional inter-
city trains; and
WHEREAS, commuter services between South Orange County
to downtown Los Angeles has been determined to be cost efficient
and an effective alternative to existing and growing traffic
congestion in the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) Corridor and could
offer a viable travel option during reconstruction of the
Santa Ana and San Diego Freeways; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana and jurisdictions
within the corridor will have an opportunity to review the
actual improvement program and follow-on implementation
actions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana does hereby urge the State Legislature
to accept the recommendation of the "Los Angeles-San Diego
(LOSSAN) State Rail Corridor Study: Draft Final Report" and
urges active state, federal and local participation in imple-
menting and funding of actions recommended therein.
