RESOLUTION NO. 88-18
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 87-95
TO ADD A NEW MIDDLE-MANAGEMENT CLASSIFICATION
OF ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR
WHEREAS, on December 21, 1987, the City Council passed
and adopted Resolution No. 87-95, reestablishing the Basic
Classification and Compensation Plan for classes of employment
designated as unrepresented executive and middle-management; and
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter
of the City of Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare,
install and maintain a position classification and pay plan
subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval
of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, due to a reorganization within the Planning
and Building Safety Department, and in consideration of current
and projected budgetary constraints, the Executive Director of
that department, has begun the process of consolidating the
duties and responsibilities from senior-level positions; and
WHEREAS, in order to properly classify and compensate
a newly restructured position, it is proposed that a new
middle-management level class of ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR be
established at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. Section 3B of Resolution No. 87-95, the Basic
Classification and Compensation Plan for Unrepresented
Management Employees, is hereby amended by:
a. Adding, in proper alphabetical sequence, the
class title of ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR at Management Salary
Rate Range M-19 with the minimum to maximum hiring rate range
of $3613-$4295.
b. Designating said class as unrepresented
middle management by adding the parenthetical identifier (MM)
following the class title.

2. That this Resolution shall be operative from and after
1, 1988.
