A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO EFFECT CERTAIN CLASSIFI-
CATION AND COMPENSATION CHANGES PERTAINING TO SEVERAL
LIBRARY AND LEGAL SECRETARIAL CLASSES AND TO THE LIST
OF PART-TIME CLASSES OF ~MPLOYMENT.
~, Section 1004 Article X of the City Charter of the City
of Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a
position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and
regulations and the approval of the City Council; and
WHt~EAS, on August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted
Resolution No. 82-110 revising and re-establishing the basic Classification
and Compensation Plan for Officers and Employees of the City of Santa Aha; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has from time to time amended said
Resolution; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the implementation of the Clerical Study
recoumendations in the Library, there exists an inequity and confusion caused
by the assignment of various classifications at varying pay rates to similar
job duties; and
I~qERFAS, there exists a pay inequity between the classes of Senior
Legal Secretary and Senior Secretary which are comparable in job duties and
responsibilities but not in pay; and
WHEREAS, the pay levels for part-time classes of employment have
not been adjusted for several years, with the result that current pay rates
are considerably behind those paid elsewhere in the local labor market; and
Ifl{ERFAS, it is now desired to effect certain classification and
compensation changes in Resolution No. 82-110 to resolve the above stated
problems.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY ~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA:

That Section 5 of Resolution No. 82-110 is hereby further

classes so that current incumbents in reclassified general clerical classes
who promote into said library classes will not suffer a reduction in pay:

2. That Section 3.5, Part-Time and Temporary Rates, of Resolution
82-110, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:
Section 3.5 PART-TIME AND TI~PORARY RATES. Part-time and
temporary employees under the following class titles shall receive wages based
on the rates set opposite the class title:
