RESOLUTION NO. 88 - 38
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
AMENDING RESOLUTION 82-110 TO DELETE, ADD AND (/qANGE SEVSRAL
CLASS TITLES AND EFFECT OTHER CHANGES TO THE CITY'S BASIC
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPEN3ATION PLAN FCR OFFIC~S AND
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA.
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted
Resolution No. 82-110 revising and re-establishing the Basic
Classification and Cc~pansation Plan for Officers and Employees of the
City of Santa Ana; and
WHerEAS, Section 1004 Article X of the City Charger of the City
of Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a
position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and
regulations and the approval of the City Council; and
W~EAS, City Council has frcmu time to time amended said
Resolution; and
WH~REA~, with the adoption of the annual budget for Fiscal Year
1988-89, the City Council authorized certain organizational and staffing
changes which affect several class titles in the City's Basic
Classification and Ccmpensation Plan for classes of ~,~loyment contained
in Resolution No. 82-110; and
~%E~S, the changing needs and priorities of the City
departments dictate certain changes in the Basic Classification and
Ccmpensation Plan for classes of employment contained in Resolution No.
82-110, and
WBERE~S, certain classification and compensation changes
contained in the Memorand~of Understanding between the City and the
Santa Ana City Employee's Association ratified by the City Council in
December 1987 have not yet been incorporated into the Basic
Classification and Compensation Plan;
~{]~REA~, it is now desired to amend said Resolution to delete,
add and change several class titles and salary rate ranges affected by
said organizational and staffing changes.
NOW, TH~.EFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY fDUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA:
1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 82-110 is hereby further
amended by:
a. Deleting the following class titles:

Resolution No. 82-110, is nereDy ruruner amenoec Dy changing the list of
special pay differential designations in the following manner:
a. Deleting the incentive pay differential designation
"(b)," pertaining to Paramedics (Civilian) who obtain a license as a
Registered Nurse; and
b. Adding the following assigrm~ent pay differential
designation:
"(i)
Incumbents in the classes of Senior Office Assistant,
Secretary, Secretary to the Police Chief, Senior Secretary
or Executive Secretary who are assigned by a department
head, with the prior approval of the City Manager, to a
position requiring the ability to take dictation at a rate
of 70 words per minute or better on a regular basis or as
an essential or integral element of the work of the
position, will be paid a monthly differential of sixty
dollars ($60) above his/her base monthly salary step for
each full month (At least eleven [11] working days) of such
assigrmaent."
3. That this Resolution shall be operative frc~ and after July
1, 1988.
