RESOLUTION NO. 88-~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA ADOPTING A FEE FOR THE
FILING OF INITIATIVES.
WHEREAS, the California Elections Code was amended
in 1987 to require that the proponents of any initiative
petition file with the City Clerk a notice of intent to
circulate petitions (Elections Code Sections 4002 and 4002.5);
and
WHEREAS, the City is obliged to prepare a ballot
title and summary within fifteen days.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
In accordance with Elections Code section 4002(b)
any person filing a Notice of Intent to circulate a petition
with the City Clerk shall pay a fee of two hundred dollars
($200) to be refunded to the filer if, within one year of
the filing the notice of intention, the City Clerk certifies
the sufficiency of the petition.
