A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA SUPPORTING EFFORTS RELATIVE TO THE PUR-
CHASE OF THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY
PROPERTY FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A MASS TRANSIT
SYSTEM
WHEREAS, members of the Santa Ana City Council sup-
port mass transportation to alleviate traffic congestion and
better serve those who utilize public transporation; and
WHEREAS, representatives of the Southern Pacific
Transportation Company have made available for public acqui-
sition the Southern Pacific Electric Railroad right-of-way;
and
WHEREAS, members of the Orange County Transporta-
tion Commission have expressed an interest in acquiring the
railroad right-of-way property offered by the Southern Pacific
Transportation Company for future construction of a Mass
Transit System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, that members of the Santa Ana City
Council hereby support the efforts of the Orange County Trans-
portation Commission to purchase the Pacific Electric Rail-
road right-of-way for a future mass transit system.
