Councilmen Councilmen APPROVED: Council Chamber Santa Aha City Hall P.M.! April 11, 1961 ~:30 Royal E. Hubbard, Bob Brewer, A. A. Hall Stanley C. Gould, Jr., Dale H. Heinly This being the date to canvass voters ballots and it satisfactorily appears to the City Council of the City of Santa Aha that notice of the General Municipal Election was duly and regularly held on April 4, 1961, according to law. There were 85 vot- ing precincts established for the purpose of holding said Election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular election precincts established for holding the last General State and County elections. On motion of Counci!ma~ Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, an Absent Voters Canvassing Board was appointed naming E. J. McCabe, Inspector, Bob Brewer, Judge, and Bernard Lambert and Homer Sterling, Clerk for the purpose of canvassing the Absent Voters Ballots.' Councilman Heinly arrived at the meeting at 4:40 P.M. Counci)~au Gould arrived at the meeting at 4:45 P.M. The Canvassing Board reported 72 Absent Voters Ballots were cast. It was moved by Counci!~ Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, that it has been determined th~ a total of 72 Absent Voters Ballots were cast, and the meeting was adjourned to April ll, 1961, at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, for the completion of the canvassing of the regular election returns. No. 61-97 i Declaring result of .General Municipal iElection held !A~ril 4, 1961 The Mayor stated the Council will now proceed with the canvassing of the final election returns on the General Municipal election held April ~, 1961. As a result of the canvass, it was discovered that the tally list in Consolidated Precinct No.. 44 had not been correctly entered. Police Captain Frederick E. Hopper was request- ed to contact the election officers, who had served on Consolidated Precinct No. for the purpose of correcting the tally list. Leila Bon Angle and Eleanor Thomas, who served as election officers in the capacity of Inspector end Judge, respectively, on Consolidated Precinct No. 44, having arrived, Mayor Hall appointedl Councilmen Dale H. Heinly and Bob Brewer to assist in the examination of the tally list for Dr. Bob Shuler, Jr., an elected member of the Board of Education. A recess was declared at 8:50 P.M. After examination of the tally lists and a recount of the ballots voted, the appoin~ ted ccmmlttee and the election officers determined that there were lO1 votes cast for Dr. Bob Shuler, Jr., in Consolidated Precinct No. 44, and the check was collab-~ orated into the tally lists. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Cou~c~l~a~ Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the following Resolution entitle~: "Resolution No. 61-97 reciting the fact of the General Muni- cipal Election held in Santa Ana, California, and in Santa Ana School Districts territory outside of said City, on April 4, 1961, and declaring the result thereof" was considered and passed by the following vote: iClerk's statement !Result of General iMunicipal Election iheld April 4, 1961 Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Gould, Jr. Council Chamber Santa Ana City Hall April ll, 1961 9:05 P.M. The Clerk administered the oath of office and oath of allegiance to A. Allen Hall, Royal E. Hubbard and Henry H. Schlueter, duly elected as members of the City Council, for the ensuing term of four years and residing in Wards l, 3 and 5, respectively, and Dr. Herbert T. Stroschein, Dr. Bob Shuler, Jr. and C. Robert Sturgis, duly elected as members of the Board of Education, for the ensuing term of four years, and residing in the Santa Aha School District. Meeting called to order by the Clerk of the Council. Roll Call Present: Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Henry R, Schlueter, Dale H. Heinly, Bob Brewer, A. A. Hall Absent: Councilmen None It was moved by Councilman Heinly and seconded by Brewer, that A. Allen Hall be nominated as Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. It was moved by Counci]wmu Hubbard and seconded by $chlueter, that the nomination be closed. Roll Call Ayes, Councilmen Noes, Councilmen Absent, Councilmen Motion unanimously carried. Royal E. Hubbard, Henry H. Schlueter, Dale H. Heinly, Bob Brewer, A. A. Hall None None It was moved by Councilman Schlueter that Royal E. Hubbard be nominated as Vice- Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. It was moved by COuncilmau Brewer and seconded by Schlueter, that the nnmtnation be closed. Roll Call Ayes, Councilmen Noes, Councilmen Absent, Councilmen Motic~ unanimously carried. Royal E. Hall None None The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Counci)m-n Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution en- t it led: "ResOlution No. 61-98 expressing appreciation to Stanley C. Gould, Jr., for his service as City Councilman of the City of Santa Ana" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Henry H. Schlueter, Dale H. Heinly, Bob Brewer, A. A. Hall Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen None Mayor Hall presented a Golden Key to the City of Santa Ana to Mr. Stanley C. Gou~,~ Jr., followed by Mr. Gould's expression of appreciation to the members of the City Council and to J. Ogden Markel, former Councilman, and extended good wishes for the continued growth and progress of the City of Santa Aha, as the leading residential and industrial center in Orange County. ~7 8 On motion of Counci~a~ Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the City Council adjourned.
