RESOLUTION NO. 90~16
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE
FIRE CHIEF OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO
ENTER INTO AUTOMATIC AND FIRE PROTEC-
TION AGREEMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA WITH NEARBY CITIES AND THE
COUNTY OF ORANGE
WHEREAS, it is of mutual benefit to the City of Santa
Ana, its neighboring cities and the County of Orange that the
fire protection services of each such agency be extended outside
of its territorial jurisdiction and into that of another such
agency pursuant to agreements for automatic aid in specified cir-
cumstances;
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the Fire Chief of the City of Santa Ana is hereby
authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Santa Ana, agree-
ments with the cities of Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley,
Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Orange, Newport Beach, and
Westminster, and with the County of Orange with respect to its
contractual provision of fire protection services in the cities
of Irvine and Tustin and with respect to the unincorporated
areas of Midway City and Sunset Beach, providing for the automatic
aid of the City of Santa Ana's fire protection services in the
territorial jurisdictions serviced by the aforesaid agencies.
2. Each such agreement shall be on such terms and condi-
tions as the Fire Chief shall deem appropriate, and shall provide
for such reciprocal automatic aid by the contracting agency in
the City of Santa Ana as the Fire Chief shall determine to be
in the best interests of the City of Santa Ana, and shall be
subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
3. The Fire Chief is further authorized to act on behalf
of the City of Santa Ana in the amendment or termination of any

currently effective agreement between the City of Santa Ana and
any of the aforesaid agencies which provides for City of Santa
Ana fire protection services in the territorial jurisdiction of
such agency.
4. This resolution supersedes and replaces Resolution
No. 83-82 of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana.
