RESOLUTION NO. 90~051
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA
ENERGY COMMISSION'S METHANOL FLEXIBLE-FUEL
VEHICLE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the California Legislature has determined
it to be in the State's best interest to pursue the use of
clean fuels, especially Methanol as a means of reducing air
pollution, and passed Legislation for that purpose, Public
Resource Code Sections 25625 and following; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to this Legislative Mandate,
the California Energy Commission has conducted Methanol Fuel
Demonstration Programs since 1983 and has now introduced
a Methanol Flexible Fuel Vehicle Demonstration Program to
foster the use of Methanol as an alternative fuel; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has participated
in these Methanol Fuel Demonstration Programs since 1983 and
desires to participate in this Methanol Flexible-Fuel Vehicle
Demonstration Program by acquiring and using Methanol Flex-
ible-Fuel fuel vehicles.

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana supports the Energy Commission's Methanol
Flexible-Fuel Vehicle Demonstration Program and authorizes the
City Manager, or his Designee, to execute an Agreement with the
California Energy Commission and all other necessary documents to
implement and carry out the purposes of this Resolution.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that the Santa Ana City Council
authorizes the California Department of General Services and
the California Energy Commission to act on its behalf to obtain
Methanol flexible-fuel vehicles for the City.
