RESOLUTION NO. 90-090
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL ACCOUNT TO BE USED TO
CREATE OR ENHANCE PROGRAMS TO STORE OR CONSERVE WATER
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana, a municipal corporation,
is empowered to provide and protect the available water supply
within its boundaries; and
WHEREAS, precipitation for the fourth year has been
substantially below normal and many communities in the State,
particularly in the watersheds of the imported water supplies, will
suffer water shortages; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern
California, in response to the immediate concerns surrounding the
ongoing, statewide drought, adopted a storage and conservation
credit of five dollars per acre-foot on the rates for interruptible
and seasonal storage service; and
WHEREAS, the credit is available upon the establishment
of a special account to reserve these funds to create or enhance
programs to store or conserve water that will be available to meet
future demands; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Executive
Director of the Finance and Management Services Agency be
authorized to establish a special account to qualify for the rate
reduction.
