A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA DENYING VARIANCE
APPLICATION NO. 91-008, WHICH SOUGHT TO
ALLOW A WALL SIGN ON THE GROUND FLOOR
LEVEL OF A BUILDING IDENTIFYING A TENANT
ON AN UPPER FLOOR LEVEL AT 2020 EAST
FIRST STREET
WHEREAS, this Council held a public hearing on February 3,
1992, on Variance Application No. 91-008, which sought to allow a
wall sign on the ground floor level of a building identifying a
tenant on an upper floor level at 2020 East First Street;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. Based upon the evidence submitted at the abovesaid hearing
this Council finds and determines as follows:
A. The strict application of the zoning regulations will not
deprive the subject property of privileges not otherwise at
variance with the intent and purpose of the provisions of this
chapter;
Strict adherence to the on-premise sign regulations will
not be detrimental to the existing professional office
building on the subject site nor impose any undue
hardship on the owner or the tenant.
B. That the granting of a variance is not necessary for the
preservation and enjoyment of one or more substantial property
rights;
The tenant's occupancy of the building will not be
injured by the denial of this variance. No other tenant
in similar circumstances is entitled to a sign such as
the subject sign.
2. Variance Application No. 91-008 is hereby denied.
