RESOLUTION NO. 92- 075
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA INCREASING THE NUMBER
OF MEMBERS OF THE HUMAN RELATIONS COM-
MISSION TO FIFTEEN MEMBERS
WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of Santa Ana, by its
Resolution No. 84-99, adopted August 20, 1984, reorganized and
reestablished the Human Relations Commission of the City of Santa
Aha; and
WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to increase the
membership of the Human Relations Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That section 5 of Resolution No. 84-99 is hereby amended
to read as follows:
The Commission shall be comprised of fifteen
(15) members who shall be qualified electors
of the city and state, and as nearly as pos-
sible, be representative of the various and
diverse religious, racial, cultural and age
groups within the city.
The City Council shall make thirteen (13) com-
mission appointments generally in accordance
with existing wards from the best possible
applicants available at the time each vacancy
occurs, and with the ethnic makeup of the
community at large, and meet the affirmative
action goals of the City of Santa Ana.
2. That the Clerk of the Council is authorized and directed
to establish a procedure of selection by lot, whereby three (3) of
the additional six (6) positions on the Human Relation Commission
authorized by this resolution shall have terms ending after the
general municipal elections of 1992 and every four (4) years
thereafter, and the remaining three (3) additional positions shall
have terms ending after the general municipal elections of 1994 and
every four (4) years thereafter.
