RESOLUTION NO. 93- 071
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING CONDEMNATION OF
VIOLENCE AND ENCOURAGING UNDERSTANDING,
AWARENESS AND TOLERANCE THROUGHOUT ORANGE
COUNTY.
WHEREAS, last year, over 150 hate-related incidents were
documented in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, hate and violence have occurred in neighborhoods,
places of worship, schools and the work place; and
.WHEREAS, we stand united as a City of civilized people in
condemning acts of ignorance and senseless violence; and
WHEREAS, in Orange County a hate crime network among all law
enforcement and hate crime victim groups has been formed to
increase our awareness of crimes motivated by race, religion,
sexual orientation or gender; and
W~EREAS, the City of Santa Ana established a Human Relations
Commission, which serves as a forum for the presentation of
information regarding improving the human environment within the
city of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, the commission also serves as a Mediation Board for
resident disputes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana considers
all human life to be valuable; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA expresses condemnation of violence and encourages
understanding, awareness and tolerance throughout Orange County.
ADOPTED this 2nd day of August , 1993.
