A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING
THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE ORANGE COUNTY
DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, on October 21, 1996, the City Council approved
acceptance of $160,200 from the Orange County Police Chief's and
Sheriff's Association for two Santa Ana Police investigators
assigned to the Gang Unit's Street Terrorist Offender Program
(STOP); and
WHEREAS, these funds were allocated from the United States
Department of Justice Anti-Gang Grant; and
WHEREAS, as part of this program, the Orange County District
Attorney's office has agreed to provide the Police Department with
a full-time Deputy District Attorney and District Attorney
Investigator for one year to work with the STOP team; and
WHEREAS, the Anti-Gang Grant funds will pay the cost of the
Deputy District Attorney and the Police Department will pay the
cost of the District Attorney Investigator, in an amount not to
exceed $108,815;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA that the Chief of Police is authorized to enter into
a one year agreement with the Orange County District Attorney, in
a form approved by the City Attorney, to provide the Police
Department with a full-time Deputy District Attorney and District
Attorney Investigator in an amount not to exceed $108,815.
