RESOLUTION NO. 2000-074
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO
EFFECT CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE CITY'S BASIC
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN AND TO
AMEND THE CURRENT ANNUAL BUDGET TO
REALLOCATE ONE POSITION
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana
requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and
pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval of the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution
No. 82-110 revising and re-establishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan
for all Officers and Employees of the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, on June 19, 2000, the City Council passed and adopted Ordinance
No. NS-2431, which establishes the City's Annual Budget authorizing position
allocations for Fiscal Year 2000-2001, and which sets forth the requirement that
alterations in the allocation of authorized positions be reviewed and approved by the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Director of Personnel Services proposes changing the
titles of four classes to reflect current industry trends in the use of titles assigned to
principal support staff for department heads; and
WHEREAS, the Deputy City Manager for Development Services proposes the
reallocation of one vacant position in the Building Safety Division, in order to meet
customer demand for combination inspections; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Director of Personnel Services has determined the
need to create two new part time titles; and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to amend Council Resolution No. 82-110 and the
Fiscal Year 2000-2001 Annual Budget in order to effect these changes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA:
That Section 3 of Resolution No. 82-110, as amended, is hereby further
amended by changing the titles of two existing represented classes and
two existing unaffiliated classes, at no change in assigned salary rate, as
shown below:

That Section 3.5.2 of Resolution No. 82-110, as amended, is hereby
further amended to add, in alphabetical sequence, the following
represented part time classification titles, assigned to the five hourly pay
steps set forth below:

That except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of
Resolution No. 82-110, and the Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001,
shall remain in full force and effect.
That this Resolution, unless otherwise indicated above, shall be operative
from and after December 1,2000.
