A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SANTA ANA
AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A
GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE ORANGE
COUNTY SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
SERVICES FUND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines
and declares as follows:
A. Pursuant to California Assembly Bill 1913, the Santa Ana Police
Department has been awarded a $689,309.56 Supplemental Law Enforcement
Services Fund (SLESF) grant.
B. This grant award provides funds to supplement law enforcement activity in
counties and cities in accordance with specific requirements for front line law
enforcement services.
C. Based on Santa Ana's estimated populations figures for 2000, the Santa
Ana Police department has received a 2000/01 SLESF grant award of
$699,309.56.
D. This grant award requires the Santa Ana Police Department establish a
SLESF expenditure account for the grant funds, and commit to spend the funds
on front-line law enforcement, including personnel and equipment for community
policing.
Section 2. The Chief of Police or his designee is hereby authorized and directed
to execute the grant award agreement with the Orange County SLESF Oversight
Committee.
Section 3. Appoints the Chief of Police, or his designee, as agent for the City of
Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including but
not limited to applications, agreements, amendments and payment requests which may
be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned grant.
