A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SANTA ANA
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR
CERTIFICATION UNDER THE CERTIFIED LOCAL
GOVERNMENT HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROGRAM
AND APPOINTING THE DEPUTY CITY MANAGER FOR
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES AS AGENT FOR THE CITY

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines
and declares as follows:

Congress under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, amended
(16 U.S.C. § 470), has authorized the establishment of a Certified Local
Government program.
The State of California, represented by the State Historic Preservation
Officer, is responsible for the administration of the program within the state
and the establishment of necessary rules and procedures governing the
application by local agencies under the program.

The adopted procedures established by the State of California requires
the applicant to certify by resolution of the local government's elected
officials the approval of an application prior to the submission of the
application to the state.
On August 2, 2001, the Historic Resources Commission unanimously
recommended that the City Council approve the filing of an application for
certification under the Certified Local Government Historic Preservation
Program.
Section 2. The City Council hereby approves the filing of an application for
certification under the Certified Local Government Program.
Section 3. Appoints the Deputy City Manager for Development Services as the
agent of the City to coordinate, process and execute all contracts, agreements,
amendments and ancillary documents within the scope of the application for
certification.

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the
City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
