HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-068 - Transportation Account ProgramRESOLUTION NO. 2001-068 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SANTA ANA RIVER BIKE TRAIL UNDER THE BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT PROGRAM bk:10/10/01 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: On March 2, 2001, the California Department of Transportation issued a call for projects for the Bicycle Transportation Account ("BTA") Program for fiscal year 2001-2002. The BTA funds are to be authorized statewide on a competitive basis. B= Approximately $7.2 million for fiscal year 2001-2002 is available statewide for the BTA Program. C= The City of Santa Ana has an ongoing project to improve the Santa Ana River Bike Trail. Currently, the City is planning and implementing improvements to the Santa Ana River Bike Trail that will be constructed in conjunction with the Memory Lane Bridge Widening Project. The proposed cost of the Bike Trail Improvements related to this project is estimated to be $114, 000.00. If awarded the grant, the City of Santa Ana will enter into the agreement with the State of California with $10,400.00 in matching funds from the Memory Lane Bridge Widening Project, Measure M Street Construction Fund. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby approves the submittal of an application for $104,000.00 to the California Department of Transportation for Santa Ana River Bike Trail Improvements to be constructed in conjunction with the Memory Lane Bridge Widening Project under the 2001-2001 Bicycle Transportation/~,ccount Program. Section $. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and empowers the Executive Director of the Public Works Agency or designee to execute in the name of the City of Santa Ana all necessary applications, contracts, agreements, amendments and payments requests hereto for the purpose of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
