A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CLERK
OF THE COUNCIL TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD
AGREEMENT WITH THE ORANGE COUNTY
SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES
FUND.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and
declares as follows:
The California Assembly Bill 1913 provides moneys for Supplemental Law
Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF).
Said fund requires that moneys be allocated to counties and cities in
accordance with specified requirements for front line law enforcement
services.
Based on Santa Ana's estimated population figures for 2001, the Police
Department has received a Fiscal Year 2001-2002 SLESF award of
$696,791.54.
This is the sixth year the Police Department has received funding from the
State of California through this grant program.

In compliance with the requirements of the legislation, the Police
Department has established a SLESF expenditure account for the grant
funds, and is committed to spend the funds on front-line law enforcement,
including personnel and equipment for community policing.
Approval of the appropriation adjustments will increase anticipated
revenues in the "FY 01-02 SLESF Grant" revenue account by
$696,791.54, and increase expenditures appropriations in the "SLESF FY
01-02" grant expenditure account by the total amount of $689,309.56.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and
empowers the Chief of Police and Clerk of the Council to execute a grant award
agreement with the Orange County SLESF Oversight Committee (SLEOC) for
$696,791.54.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the
City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
