A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA GRANTING THE HISTORIC RESOURCES
COMMISSION THE AUTHORITY TO AFFIRM OR
RESCIND THE PROPERTY LISTINGS ON THE SANTA
ANA REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PROPERTIES

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines
and declares as follows:

On November 3, 1997 the City Council approved resolution number 97-
046A placing 223 properties, which met the standards for architectural and
historical merit as outlined in the municipal code, on the Santa Ana
Register of Historical Properties.
The property owners were informed prior to the hearing, that their
properties were being considered by the City Council for inclusion
on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties.
Some of the 223 properties have changed ownership and the new owners
in some cases may not be aware of the historic designation placed on
their properties.
Section 2. In order to provide these subsequent purchasers due process, the
City Council hereby delegates to the Historic Resources Commission the authority to
affirm or rescind property listings on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties.
The Historic Resources Commission shall have the authority to review on a
case-by-case basis, requests from subsequent property owners (property owners who
acquired the property after November 3, 1997) and who did not have notice of the
designation, to consider the inclusion of their property on the Santa Ana Register of
Historical Properties.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by
the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
