A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA ADDING ANIMAL SHELTER FEES TO THE
MISCELLANEOUS FEE SCHEDULE AND INCREASING
THE IMPOUND OF OWNER RELEASE ANIMAL FEE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Sectio~n 1. The Git~Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines

': J~A~::~.~; ~'..~he_Oi,ty of..Sap~ began the operation and management of a City run
Animal Shelter on January 1,2002.
The following fees were previously charged in conjunction with contracted
for veterinary services and animal shelter operation. Since the City is now
operating the shelter it is appropriate to add the following fees to the
miscellaneous fee schedule. The fees reflect the associated costs for the
services provided.

The City currently charges $37.25 to an owner who voluntarily impounds
and releases an animal to the shelter. Due to current State law which
requires a five day holding period upon owner release, it is necessary to
increase the fee to $50.00 to cover the actual cost of board and care of
the animal for the five day duration.
The City Council incorporates herein, as though fully set forth, the Request
For Council Action accompanying this resolution.
Section 2.
Animal Services.
The City Council hereby establishes the following fees relating to
Vaccination against rabies is hereby established in the amount of $7.00
per vaccination.
Euthanasia upon request of owner is hereby established in the amount of
$35.00 per animal.
Boarding, including daily care and feed is hereby established in the
amount of $10.50 per day.
D. A cat trap rental fee is hereby established in the amount of $2.00 per day.

E. Medical or surgical care treatment fee is hereby established in an amount
equal to the actual cost of the care·
F. An adoption fee for small animals, including, rabbits, snakes and birds is
hereby established in the amount of $15.00 each.
G. The Impound of Owner Release Animal fees is hereby increased to
$50.00 per animal.
Section 3. That without further action of the City Council the fees listed in
Section 2 shall be incorporated into the City's Miscellaneous Fee Schedule.
