HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-019 - 1320 North Broadway on the Santa Ana Register of Historical PropertiesRESOLUTION NO. 2002-019 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AFFIRMING PLACEMENT OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1320 NORTH BROADWAY ON THE SANTA ANA REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PROPERTIES Kdo/3/12/02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: On November 3, 1997, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana by Resolution number 97-046A placed two hundred twenty three (223) properties on the Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties including the applicant's property, 1320 North Broadway, Santa Ana. Bo The subject property, known as the Weissman-Flagg House, was included on the Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties because it was determined that the property fulfilled the criteria for both historical and architectural significance outlined in Section 30-2 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code. On May 3, 2001, the Historic Resources Commission categorized the property as Key pursuant to criteria contained in Section 30-2.2(2) of the Santa Ana Municipal Code. 1. It was determined that the Weissman-Flagg House has a distinctive architectural style and quality because it is a very well articulated example of Craftsman style architecture, which was influential during the first quarter of the twentieth century. Additionally, the structure is associated with a significant person or event in the city of Santa Ana for its association with the Weissman and the Flagg families who were prominent local merchants. On March 7, 2002, the Historic Resources Commission after conducting a duly noticed public hearing, and considering all of the evidence presented, unanimously voted to affirm the placement of the property located at 1320 North Broadway on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties. Resolution No. 2002-019 Page 1 of 3 Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code §30-8, the Applicant timely appealed the Historic Resources Commission decision to the City Council of the City of Santa Ana. Section 2. After conducting the public hearing and considering all of the evidence presented, the City Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby affirms the placement of the property located at 1320 North Broadway, Santa Aha on the Santa Aha Register of Historic Properties. Section 3. For the subject property, the report entitled "Historical Property Description", is on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council, and is hereby approved and adopted, and together with the staff report and this resolution, justify the findings for designation of this property for inclusion on the Santa Ana Register of Historical Property as well as placement in the key categorization. The Clerk of the Council is authorized and directed to include this resolution in the City of Santa Ana Register of Historical Property. Section 4. The Historic Resources Commission Secretary is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this Resolution with the County Recorder's Office after the adoption of this Resolution. Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
