HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-054 - Supplemental Law Enforcement Services FundRESOLUTION NO. 2002-054 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING AND A PROPOSED EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR THE 2002-2003 SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND bk: 6/11/02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: California Assembly Bill 1913 provides moneys for Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). Bo Said fund requires that moneys be allocated to counties and cities in accordance with specified requirements for front line law enforcement services. For the last six years year the Santa Ana Police Department has received funding from the State of California through this grant program. D. For Fiscal Year 2001-2002 the City received a SLESF award of $696,791.54. E= In compliance with the requirements of the SLESF legislation, the Police Department must establish a proposed expenditure plan for the grant SLESF funds, to spend these funds on front~line law enforcement, including personnel and equipment for community policing. F= A duly noticed public hearing was held to consider this item at the Council's regular meeting of June 17, 2002. The City Council considered all testimony, written and omi, before rendering this decision. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and empowers the Chief of Police to take all actions necessary to seek and obtain a grant of 2002-2003 SLESF funds, including but not limited to preparation and submittal of a proposed expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight Committee. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
