A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA TO AMEND RESOLUTION NOS. 82-110 AND
91-066 TO CHANGE THE TITLES OF SEVERAL
PLANNING AND BUILDING SAFETY CLASSIFICATIONS
AND ONE PUBLIC WORKS AGENCY CLASSIFICATION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows:
Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana
requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position
classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations
and the approval of the City Council.
On August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No.
82-110 revising and re-establishing the Basic Classification and
Compensation Plan for Officers and Employees of the City of Santa Ana.

On July 1, 1991, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 91-
066, re-establishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan for
classes of employment designated as unrepresented Executive
Management (EM) and Middle Management (MM).

The Executive Director of Planning and Building Safety proposes title
changes to several plan check engineering classifications, and the
Executive Director of Public Works proposes a title change to one
transportation classification. The changes are desired to more accurately
reflect the duties and responsibilities of the positions, to more closely align
the classifications with the titling practices of the industry and to keep
internal consistency with the classifications.
It is now desired to amend Council Resolutions No. 82-110, as amended,
and No. 91-066, as amended, in order to effect these changes.
Section 2: That Section 3 of Resolution No. 82-110, as amended, is hereby
further amended by executing the following changes in classification titles at no change
to the six-step salary rate ranges currently assigned:

*These changes apply only to job classification titles; they do not result in any change in
compensation, including career development incentives.
Section 3: That Section 3B of Resolution No. 91-066, as amended, is hereby
fur[her amended by changing the following existing unrepresented Middle Management
classification title, at no change to the fifteen-step salary rate range currently assigned:

Section 4: That except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of
Resolutions No. 82-110, as amended, and No. 91-066, as amended, shall remain in full
force and effect.
Section 5: That this Resolution shall be operative from and after its date of
adoption.
