A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF SANTA ANA'S
MEMBERSHIP IN A JOINT POWERS AUTHORITY TO BE
KNOWN AS THE INTEGRATED LAW AND JUSTICE
AGENCY FOR ORANGE COUNTY

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines
and declares as follows:
Current methods of sharing criminal justice information among various
criminal justice departments and agencies is cumbersome and ineffective
compounding document preparation, data entry, transmission and
storage.

Participating in a newly formed Joint Powers Authority to be known as
Integrated Law and Justice Agency for Orange County will enable Santa
Ana to work together with various criminal justice departments and
agencies to better access and provide information regarding criminal
suspect or offender identity, criminal history and currant justice status.
A coordinated efficient approach to sharing information among the various
criminal justice departments and agencies is in the benefit of the citizens
of Santa Ana.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes the
City's membership in a Joint Powers Authority to be known as the Integrated Law and
Justice Agency for Orange County.
Section 3. The Joint Powers Agreement establishing the Integrated Law and
Justice Agency for Orange County is hereby approved, and the City Manager and Clerk
of the Council are hereby authorized to execute this Agreement with such non-substantive
changes as may be approved by Chief of Police or designee and the City Attorney.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by
the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
