The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 217
North Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen James Gilmore,
Walter Brooks, Davis Burk, Wade Eerrin, J. Ogden Markel, Tom McMichael and
Mayor Harry H. Harvey.

VOTE COUNTING It was moved by C~ucilm~ Brooks,
seconded by Councilman Gilmore that
the Council direct correspondence to
State Legislators opposing Senate
Bill 1012, which would prohibit ballot counting at a centralized location.
Counc~l~n Gilmore pointed out there is a companion bill, Assembly Bill
1607, which would provide for bi-partisan checking of electronically
counted ballots. Councilma~ Brooks amended his motion to add "and favoring
ASsembly Bill 1607". The amended moti°n to direct.correspondence to State
Legislators opposing Senate Bill 1012, which w~ald prohibit ballot counting
at a Centralized location, and favor~-g Assembly Bill 1607, was adopted on
roll call vote:
