Don Chriateson, the developer~ spoke on behalf of the variance and presented
two architect's sketches of the proposed landscaping on Santa Clara, noting
that maintenance would be written into deed restriction8 and that a Mexican
adobe well with either wood or metal grilles is planned.
After hearing a report by Senior P!a~,er Steve Lafer regarding the staff's
desire to minimize the number of cars back~g out into an arterial street,
and other aspects of the application, the hearing wes closed.
Xt was moved by .Co~?cilman Brooke, seconded by Councilman Carlson, to uphold
the action of the Zoning Administrator an~ instruct the City Attorney to
prepare a resolution granting Variance 67-11~ subject to the same conditions.
Councilmen Rerrin and Markel ccumented it would be preferable for owners of
the individual lots to apply for variances after the lots are sold if they
