April 26~ 1968
A special meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Cbambers~ 217 North
Main Street, at 5:05 P.M.~ notice having been given~ with evidence on file in the
office of the Clerk of the Co~uci!~ The following Councilmen were present: Wade
Herrin, Walter Brooks~ James E. Carlson~ J. Ogden Markel, Thomas W. Thurmau and
Mayor Tcm McMichael. C~nucilman Lorln Griset was absent. Also present were City
Manager Carl J. Thornton: City Attorney Willi~ L. Mock, and Assmstant Clerk of
the Council Maxime B~ Valleryo
PARADE APPLICATION Council considered Applicat~.on for Special
License ~o Use Public Property of the
Southern Christian Leadership Conference~
for a parade on Su~day~ April 28~ from Sears parking lot to Valley High School
Auditorium.
Thomas McCormick~ 1910 W. St~ Andre~ ?lace~ objected to the parade going down
Raitt Street to the high school because it is a residential area. The City
Manager explained that it would be impossible to approach the YaiSey High School
Auditorium without going past some residential properties°
On motion of Councilman brook.s, seconled by Councilman Herrin and carrieds the
Southern Christian Leadership Conference was gr~ted permission to hold the
parade on the route requested on Sunday~ April 28, 1968~ at
SOLICITATION APPLICATION :~n motion cf Co~zucilman Herrln~ seconded
by Councilman Frocks and carried~ the
application to solicit of Blue Star Mothers
of ~erica~ Inc~ Blue Daisy sale~ May 4~ 19~, was approved~
On motion of Councilman 'Thurman~ 3econded by Councilman Herrin and carried~ the
meeting was adjourned at 5;15 P.M.
